Crushing Resistance Analysis and Cross-Sectional Parameters Optimization of Flexible Pipe Carcass Layer

Abstract

As the innermost structure of the flexible pipe, the carcass layer plays the role of bearing the external hydrostatic pressure. How to improve the crushing resistance of the carcass layer is the focus of the research on the flexible pipe structure. In order to study the influence of the cross-sectional parameters of the carcass layer on the crushing resistance of the flexible pipe, a three-dimensional finite element model of the carcass layer was established, and the results of finite element numerical analysis were verified through theoretical calculations. On this basis, the orthogonal experimental method was carried out to study the influence of the cross-sectional parameters on the crushing resistance. Finally, through the response surface method combined, the optimized cross-sectional parameters of the carcass layer were obtained. The results show that the mass of the optimized carcass layer decreases by 5% and the crushing resistance increases by 11%, which provides a reference for improving the crushing resistance of the flexible pipe.
