Abstract
Dye/polymer composites have found immense importance in the optoelectronics device applications in the last few years. Here, we report fabrication of flexible, self-standing, multiband laser-filters based on bromophenol blue (BPB)/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite films. Structural, mechanical and optical properties of the BPB/PVA (0.1, 1.0 and 2.0 wt% BPB) composites were investigated. Alterations in the physical properties of the composites have been supported by the structural analysis (XRD and FTIR). Modified optical band gap and the flexibility of the composites have been studied thoroughly. The composite films have been successfully used as high power laser blocking filter applicable in multiple wavelength bands. A fabricated 2.0 wt% BPB/PVA composite film of thickness 250 ± 30 µm can block and withstand high power laser (5.7 mW) for a long period of time. Therefore, these flexible, tunable, multiband laser-filters can be suitably used in modern optoelectronics applications.
