Two New Phloroglucinol Derivatives from Syzygium fluviatile

Two new phloroglucinol derivatives were isolated from the leaves of Syzygium fluviatile. The structures were elucidated as (Z,Z,Z)-1-(2,4-dihydroxy-6-methoxyphenyl)-octadeca-9,12,15-trien-1-one (1) and (Z,Z)-1-(5-methyl-2,4-dihydroxy-6-methoxyphenyl)-octadeca-9,12-dien-1-one (2) by means of extensive spectroscopic analyses including HR-ESI-MS and NMR spectra. Among them, compound 1 exhibited significant inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase with an IC50 value of 3.63 μM.
