Abstract
An increase in the number of nuclear families has given rise to an increased demand for energy usage across mankind. Further, the rising need for energy puts pressure on energy savings and preservation of natural resources. This leads to the need for advancement in home front monitoring system and demands smart and intelligent system to reduce energy consumption. In this paper, researchers are going to look at, how smart grids and smart meters can help in this direction. The growth of the internet has also shaped people's lives in many ways. Initially, people could hardly check emails, social media, and browse sites; slowly they progressed to video streaming and high-end telepresence. As internet speed has increased and become more accessible, it had also led to the development of people’s lives in many ways. In the smart grid and smart meter system, the advancement of the internet plays a big role. High speed internet helps in building communication system between various devices and aiding in remote monitoring system.
