Abstract

Elbow stiffness is a common complication after trauma or surgery. Surgical treatment includes arthroscopic and open arthrolysis or different types of arthroplasty procedures. Arthroscopic arthrolysis has been well developed in the past decades. This technique has the advantage of less soft tissue trauma, better visualization, and more rapid functional recovery. However, there is higher risk of nerve injury during surgery. Full recognition of major pathologic changes around elbow is essential for a successful release.

Acknowledgment

I would like to thank Dr Shawn O’Driscoll of Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota USA for his teaching. The principle and surgical technique of elbow arthroscopy I described in this chapter are straightly learned from him.
