Abstract

Engineering design course is needed for every engineering student to be a successful entrepreneur and to be job-ready after graduation. This paper shows the way of implementing the engineering design course using effective teaching and learning model referred as “project-based learning” (PBL). It also details multiple dimensions of design thinking and their impact on the learning process of engineering students. PBL is successfully implemented through a course termed “Engineering Projects In Community Service” (EPICS). This work recommends to initiate EPICS course in the engineering curriculum at the institution level to inculcate the design thinking practice and also explores the significant impact of EPICS projects on society, through a case study.
