Abstract
The University Medical School Librarians Group (UMSLG) is the representative group for the librarians of undergraduate and postgraduate medical schools in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Membership of the Group is ex officio, being restricted to the librarian in charge of each library. There are currently 45 members. The Group held its first meeting in 1983, to raise the political profile of medical school libraries at a time when the UK’s universities and the National Health Service were both undergoing periods of substantial change.
