Zusammenfassung

Gegenirritationsverfahren gehörten nicht nur zum therapeutischen Repertoire Wilhelm Buschs, sie haben in der Geschichte der Medizin eine lange Tradition. Mangels effektiver Analgetika und Hypnotika wurden operative Eingriffe für den Patienten oft dadurch einigermaßen erträglich gemacht, daß man ihm an einer anderen Körperstelle künstlich Schmerzen zufügte.
