Abstract
The theoretical results explained in Section 2 for single-degree-of-freedom systems with a single frictional pair are applied in the present chapter. We consider first the construction of the equations, determining the feasibility of the paradoxes, establishing the conditions for the immovable contact and studying the property of self-braking. Integration of the equations of motion receives little attention. The two simple examples of Section 3.1 are of an auxiliary character. The further sections address six mechanisms, each of them is of practical interest.
