Friedrich Schlegels späte Staats- und Gesellschaftsphilosophie erhält ihr restauratives Profil schon in seiner Kölner Privatvorlesung über Universalgeschichte im Sommer 1806 (vgl. 14, 3–256), d. h. längst vor dem Wiener Kongress und dessen Fortsetzung im Deutschen Bundestag, zudem zu einer Zeit, in der Schlegel noch französischer Staatsbeamter war.
