Abstract

Results of quality factor determination by means of two different methods from seismograms of the rare strongest earthquake on March 5, 2022 in the Khibiny intrusion with magnitude of mb = 4.1, recorded by seismic stations of regional and world networks, are presented. Focal mechanism of the earthquake has been calculated from seismic data at epicentral distances of 35–296 km. The quality factors Qeff(p) from 332 to 1205 by spectral inversion method were obtained. Synthetic envelopes were built based on the radiation energy transfer method using the Radiativ3d package to estimate the intrinsic attenuation and attenuation related to scattering contribution in the Q-factor estimation. Estimates of these quantities were made according to the best fit of the envelopes of the real and synthetic waveforms, in order for Qi(p) 1700, Qscat(p) 350, Qeff(p) 300. The value of Qeff(p) is somewhat lower than that estimated by the spectral inversion method, but does not contradict the known values obtained earlier by other methods.
