Abstract

The risk of COVID-19 infection and developed symptoms in pregnant women was not found to be different from the nonpregnant ones. Recent studies have reported that pregnant women who were not vaccinated had severe COVID-19 infection with a high ratio of hospital admission and critical care as well as perinatal deaths. As more experiences and knowledge about the coronavirus disease have increased, it was seen that symptoms showing the involvement of the nervous system both peripheral and central may also accompany COVID-19 infection and headache was observed to be one of the commonest neurological complaints in pregnancy and puerperium. Headache was more associated with disease severity and PCR test positivity. It must be kept in mind that headache may be secondary due to viral-induced diseases and appropriate examination and treatment must be made if neurological symptoms accompany newly onset headache in temporal relation with the infection. In this chapter we aimed to investigate the relation of headache with SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
