Abstract
The pandemic has impacted the world’s population to varying degrees. The poorest and most vulnerable populations are particularly affected. Developing countries, especially the least developed countries, the majority of which are located in Africa, are unable to combat income poverty for the first time in 20 years. The challenge for the governments of these countries to overcome the economic and social consequences of the pandemic is enormous and requires a change in public policies, more preventive and better targeted, especially for the poorest.
