Abstract
Due to the spread of multimedia broadcasting, such as digital terrestrial TV broadcasting and one-segment broadcasting, continuous media data broadcasting has been attracting great attention. In broadcasting, many clients can receive data at a fixed bandwidth, but clients have to wait between making their request to receive data and the start of data delivery. In order to reduce this waiting time, division-based broadcasting, in which the server divides data into several segments and delivers them on multiple channels, has been proposed. Conventional scheduling methods do not consider dynamic updating of the delivery environment by adjusting the available bandwidth. Consequently, the server cannot update the delivery schedule after delivery has started. In this paper, we propose a scheduling method for division-based broadcasting using dynamic video delivery. The proposed method reduces the waiting time for receiving video data by updating the delivery schedule so that all clients can receive the video data based on the change in the available bandwidth before and after the update. Simulation evaluations show that the proposed method reduces the waiting time compared to the conventional method.
