Abstract

Trauma is the leading cause of death and disability across the globe. The principles of caring for the injured child are unchanged in the developing world, but the available resources can be minimal. This chapter will apply the Advanced Trauma Life Support pathways to encourage the reader to prepare techniques and equipment to be able to continue to provide high level trauma care in humanitarian or deployed settings. The authors are primarily African surgeons at a tertiary referral paediatric trauma center in Kenya.
