Abstract

History sheds light on the mistakes our predecessors have made in their scientific quests, but also it brings to our attention knowledge and wisdom which are now long forgotten or pushed aside by more favorable or operationalized pathways. Knowledge of these lost and long forgotten ideas not only protects from committing the same mistakes over and over again but also could provide with valuable insight which can not only radically change the way we perceive and interpret the present but also might give us tools to foresee the future.

Those who know only their own generation always remain children.

Cicero (106–43 BC; Fig. 2.1)
