Abstract

In parallel to the continued improvements of penile implant devices by large manufacturers, serious implanters keep striving for the advent of new techniques and surgical tools to optimize procedure efficiency and safety. Subsequently, postoperative outcomes and satisfaction rates have improved substantially over the past decades. Nevertheless, even after successful implant surgery, long-term complications remain a daunting challenge for surgeons. A good surgeon must be aware of the early signs of these complications as well as prepared to manage them in a timely manner to prevent further morbidity. In this chapter, we highlight an array of well-known long-term complications that have been reported following penile prosthesis surgery with special emphasis on how to prevent and treat such events.
