Abstract
Given the increasing interest in curatorial issues and practices in anthropology, the arguments advanced in this book are timely contributions to larger discussions in our field. Emerging literature on curatorship is largely devoted to exploring mutual intrusions between anthropology and contemporary art. Interestingly, vernacular forms of curatorial practices, which are characteristic of on-demand audiovisual production, could pave very productive paths regarding related issues. A conceptualization focused on commissioners as cultural brokers could help us rethink the dialogical dynamics that characterize broader relationships that are not merely economic, but subjected to the logic of reciprocity and other forms of social exchange in which the world of images serve to articulate different notions about social belonging, history, modernity, and contemporaneity.
