Abstract
Mesenteric artery thrombosis and embolism is an uncommon disease that is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Prompt diagnosis and a high index of suspicion is required. Generally, treatment requires open surgical exploration and revascularization. However, endovascular and hybrid approaches to revascularization may be appropriate for select patients. Postoperative management requires intensive support and treatment of the underlying causes for thrombosis or embolism.
