Acknowledgments

To conclude, the authors would like to acknowledge the people who provided us with support and help; without them this book would not have been written in such a broad thematic aspect.

And so, words of gratitude appreciation go first to the Managers of Thematic Groups in large R&D projects carried out by the Institute. They carried the substantive responsibility for the results of the works carried out.

The authors would like to mention and display their gratitude to some of their closest collaborators:

P. Lampart, A. Cenian, M. Lackowski, G. Żywica, Z. Kozanecki, E. Ihnatowicz, S. Bykuć, J. Gołaszewski, W. Miąskowski, T. Golec, M. Kułażyński

We also fondly remember the cooperation with Eng. M. Laskowski from GK Energa. It was thanks to his involvement that it was possible to build large installations as part of the Z4 PS strategic project.

Our many thanks also go to all the employees from the Coordination Offices of those projects. Preparing reports, financial settlements, organizing checkpoints is a difficult and responsible task, therefore I would like to thank the following:

E. Domke, M. Patoleta,

Sawicka, D. Kosińska,

Kardaś, A. Wnuk,

M. Ostachowicz, K. Trzebiatowska.

Thanks to these projects, the scientific community related to the subject of energy transformation has been integrated to a greater extent. Now, much stronger, we can take up new challenges in the fight against climate change.

In regards to transformation, cooperation with local communities, municipalities and counties also turned out to be very important. The authors would like to thank the authorities of the Legionowski poviat and the authorities of Jabłonna and Przywidz municipalities. Particularly heartfelt thanks go to the mayor Marek Zimakowski. It is thanks to his passion and commitment that the Przywidz muncipality has become the leader of changes in Kashubia.

The authors are glad that the Institute has developed research groups that are able to design and implement unique installations in the field of eco-energy. These are difficult and time-consuming tasks. It is an implementation of the concept according to which a large institute of technical sciences, which is IMP PAN, in addition to publications and contributions to science, should also be able to create works useful for the economy.

This concept of institute management was favored for many years by successive institute directors, including the current co-author of this book.

The authors would like to thank the following team leaders who are recultivating this concept:

G. Żywica, P. Klonowicz, P. Lampart and R. Rządkowski—microturbines and micro power plants

Cenian—micro biogas plants, waste management

M. Lackowski, S. Bykuć—energy and cold storage, energy mapping

D. Kardaś—low-emission boilers, gasifiers

J. Podliński, M. Dors—electrostatic precipitators

P. Doerffer—small wind energy

Adamkowski—hydropower

It is thanks to the work and commitment of these teams that the Institute can play a significant role in the processes of green energy transformation in Poland.

The authors would like to express special thanks to Professor Paweł Rowiński, Polish hydrologist and hydrodynamicist, Vice-President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, who encouraged them to write this book.

It is impossible to list everyone the authors would like to thank. Many people have contributed to the success of the institute. We would like to thank all of them. To all our associates, kind people from the Institute and the whole country. Without their help, it would not be possible to develop the technologies mentioned in this book.

Thanks are also due to the authors’ immediate family, especially our wives, Oleńka and Monika. Their patience in the process of writing this book, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, has been an invaluable inspiration to us.
