Abstract
Despite the fact that the healthcare industry has been slower to adopt Internet of Things than other industries, the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is bound to change how we keep individuals protected and healthy, particularly as the interest for bringing down healthcare costs increases. IoMT can not only help track, advise, and alert patients but also provide specific data to healthcare providers to detect issues before they become serious or allow for earlier invention. Unfortunately, the proliferation of IoMT devices contributes to an increase in vulnerabilities and opportunities to get hacked for such IoMT devices. When these smart devices are not protected, it can put patients at risk and disrupt the entire system of a healthcare organization. There are number of proven solutions that may be implemented to increase the security of IoT devices. This chapter provides an overview of security threats, challenges, and potential solutions for IoMT systems.
