Teaching Earth Sciences in the Provincial Educational System of Tierra del Fuego

Abstract

Including a chapter in the study of Geological Resources in Tierra del Fuego and refers to its teaching, acquires a relevant importance, not only because it allows citizens to learn from their own assessment but also because it allows to go deeper on its methodological aspects when teaching Natural Sciences based on the natural environment’s diversity in the province, it also enables students to build their knowledge from early ages in specific and adequate contexts. Using conceptual components based on the theorization and the use of models in teaching can be combined with more practical aspects that are available for its exploitation in the geological resources of the province. Knowledge cannot be achieved without information or interaction; we teach to observe, discover, describe and interpret the environment and the design of didactic itineraries is fundamental to attain contextualized teaching.
