Abstract
The experience of a multiple-birth family is very different from that of a singleton family, from diagnosis throughout pregnancy, into the early years, and beyond. Beginning with a high-risk pregnancy, and increased chance of prematurity, baby loss or disability, parents may go on to face physical and mental health difficulties, relationship challenges, financial strain, social stigma, and difficult decisions around schooling and upbringing, as well as the practical challenges of having multiple children of the same age. It is vital that healthcare professionals can recognise these challenges and adapt their practice to best meet these families’ needs.
