Abstract
Horsford, Grosland, and Gunn’s culturally relevant leadership framework connects the significance of principals’ leadership practices with issues of equity, political context, and cultural proficiency. Culturally relevant leadership practices are particularly apropos in public school contexts with an increasingly diverse population of students. Leadership can be challenging in schools with White administrators who may not think of themselves as having a culture yet are responsible for leading schools with a population of largely Black and Latinx students who deeply identify with their cultures. Additionally Davis and Leon’s framework for examining alternate formulations of teacher leadership is highlighted. The four domains of teacher leadership are instrumental, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and organizational. The narratives of four teacher leaders that exemplify each of Davis and Leon’s domains are included.
