Abstract

It is evident that the elucidation of the diverse patterns of mammalian reproduction is dependent upon research from a comparative viewpoint. The results of such studies will provide a basis for understanding the ways different kinds of animals meet their reproductive requirements and will be useful also in evaluating evolutionary as well as ecological aspects of reproduction. The discussion presented here deals with results of experimental work on the reproductive physiology of the female domestic pig (Sus scrofa L.).
