Abstract

The importance of consideration and assessment of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) will be explored in this chapter. With the availability of the IMPACT questionnaire, our understanding of HRQOL in pediatric IBD has moved beyond rudimentary assessment, and now allows a more disease-specific approach for pediatric IBD patients. Work is now shifting towards understanding the factors which influence HRQOL in this population, ultimately with the goal to target interventions which will lead to improved HRQOL.
