Abstract
This chapter is primarily intended to introduce the problems associated with the traditional, or conventional, method of valuing investment properties which the techniques outlined in this book attempt to address. Because the text requires knowledge of valuation methods and there may be some readers who do not fully understand the basis of the investment method of valuations, this elementary outline is included — although study of an introductory valuations text such as Introduction to Valuations (Richmond, 1985) will be of considerable value to those readers not conversant with traditional valuation techniques.
