Es wird vermutet, dass 20–40 % der krebsbedingten Todesursachen auf eine Kachexie zurückgeführt werden können. Bisher mangelt es aber an Therapieansätzen für die Tumorkachexie. Neben pharmakologischen Maßnahmen und spezieller Ernährungsberatung bzw. -therapie könnte Bewegung und gezieltes Training als Supportivtherapie eine weitere vielversprechende Maßnahme sein.
