Abstract
The automated five-channel system produced by the TEOS Company for controlling the float-glass ribbon thickness in real tine in the hot zone of the annealing furnace is based on tandem low-coherence interferometry. Continuous monitoring of glass ribbon thickness offers fundamentally new opportunities to engineers and operators for controlling the process. The operating principle, advantages of the system, and the result of its performance at glass factories are described.
