Abstract

Basile is a CACSD software of the Matlab family, covering the field of automatic control, signal processing and optimization, allowing calculus with polynomial and rational matrices. For real-life, industrial processes, the size and complexity of underlying mathematical models necessitates intensive use of computer algebra. This paper presents two realizations involving Maple (the well-known symbolic package developped at University of Waterloo, Canada) and Basile. The first application concerns optimal control with ICSE, the optimal control toolbox of Basile. In the second, we show an integrated use of Maple and Basile, implemented as an interface between these two packages, allowing data communication, automatic procedure translation and Fortran code generation for simulation and control purposes.
