Coal injection—Bellefonte furnace

Summary

A practical, operating coal injection system has been proven on the Armco Bellefonte furnace. Approximately 120,000 nt of raw coal have been injected through the installation during 1966 and the first 8 months of 1967. The average coke/coal replacement ratio has been 1.1. Up to 28% replacement of coke with coal has been proven. There is no certain indication that this is a limiting value.
