Abstract
Diesel engines are not only used in automobiles. In this way, the engine manufacturer Dr. Schrick GmbH was contracted to design a small, high-speed diesel engine for the use in small aeroplanes. Because of the targets for the propeller drive, it was not possible to use a conventional design or a public light-weight construction of a diesel engine. This article contains some of the detailed developments that lead to the successful achievement with a two-cylinder diesel engine with direct injection and 600 cm3 displacement.
