Summary

The initial stage of this project required: identification of a suitable factory for trials, evaluation of boiler efficiency, analysis of steam loads due to individual plant processes and their timing, development of a control and optimisation strategy and preparation of a costed plan to implement control.

A second stage would be to implement the control strategy if justified by the costing.

A suitable industrial partner PL Group (Foods) Ltd has been identified and a data logging exercise using a computer initiated. Due to specification errors, the important steam flow meters have not been available and the project has been delayed. The steam meters are now operating and a programme of data acquisition and monitoring will shortly commence.
