Abstract

The United States medical libraries have an outstanding record of accomplishment in providing information services in support of health care delivery, biomedical research, and health sciences education. One important aspect of this success is the Medical Library Assistance Act of 1965 (MLAA), administered by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) which called for the creation of a Regional Medical Library (RML) Network and which continues to provide grant money to help medical libraries fulfill their mission.
