Summary
The UK water industry has an annual electricity bill of £300m, 70% of which is spent on pumping.
Potential savings of £25m/annum are attainable in the water industry by identifying problem pumps and systems, of which approximately £5m/year have been achieved to date.
The paper discusses the methods used in the UK and how Yorkshire Water in particular has made significant reductions in its energy bill.
