Specialized Equipment for Popcorn Processing

Abstract

Although some of the equipment described in other chapters may be used for certain phases of popcorn processing (e.g., packaging), there are many commercially available devices that have been specifically designed for such applications. I propose to discuss in this chapter the types of specialized equipment a food technologist would have available in setting up a line suitable for the large-scale production of popcorn-based snacks, and to give specific examples, including the manufacturers’ identification and some brief specifications thereof.
