Abstract
The Kythnos Photovoltaic Power Plant has been installed on the Greek island Kythnos which is located about 60 km south of Athens. The aim of this project is supplying electricity together with the existing diesel power station to the island consumers and saving of high costly fuel oil. A photovoltaic solar generator of 100 kW peak converts solar energy directly in electrical energy. To feed into the existing island grid with a 3 phase AC system a special system technology was developed.
This photovoltaic power plant has been designed under the consideration of using a technique for further projects in the future.
