Pathology of Experimental Amyloidosis

Abstract

The histopathology of amyloidosis is well established. In this brief review we shall focus on a few issues which may need some clarification; i.e. 1. tinctorial properties of amyloid, 2. two-phase theory of amyloidogenesis, and 3. immunohistochemistry of amyloid. We will discuss the first two “classic” issues in the light of current amyloid research, and evaluate the role of the third more recent issue.
