Abstract
The last year has seen very significant increases in the efficiency of crystalline solar cells to levels which, only a few years ago, would not have been thought likely. Even more importantly, it is apparent that there is still further scope for future improvements. This paper summarizes recent improvements, describes the approaches responsible for them, and outlines areas where improvements can be expected in the relatively near term.
