Abstract

Biventricular overload refers to evidence of volume or pressure overload that involves both ventricles simultaneously. This hemodynamic situation can already be present in newborns as an element of congenital cardiopathies; generally these are more complex such as a complete form of atrioventricular septal defect or have many congenital heart defects associated with them. Alternatively, this situation can appear later on, as a complication following a simpler congenital cardiopathy. Biventricular overload is expressed in an ECG by combined aspects of left and right ventricular hypertrophy.
