Summary
The LASIK procedure was used on 141 eyes which were divided into four groups: -6D, -10.0 D, -18.0 D, and more than -18 D. For the eyes in the first three groups a 1601m plate was used, and for the eyes in the fourth group a 130µm plate was used (this was because of differences in the corneal thickness). The flap diameter was 8.5 mm. There was almost no regression or haze, and good predictability, safety, effectiveness, and stabile refraction were achieved. However, there was epithelial ingrowth, flap dislocation, and flap wrinkles. The LASIK procedure is an important advance in refractive surgery.
