Abstract
In 1952, Professor R. H. Tawney, a famous historian, wrote: “England, a pioneer of religious and political equality, has known little of economic and social equality. Her history has supplied no experience by which to judge the effects of her recent unspectacular turn towards economic and social equality.” Thus Tawney described the development of British society up to 1952, and since then the British have taken longer strides on the same road towards equality and the classless society.
