Zusammenfassung

Beim Versagen konventioneller Maßnahmen der Atemtherapie können extrakorporale Lungenersatzverfahren eingesetzt und gleichzeitig eine »lungenschonende« Beatmung unter Vermeidung hoher Atemwegsspitzendrücke und Atemhubvolumina sowie hoher inspiratorischer O2-Konzentrationen durchgeführt werden (»Ruhigstellung der Lunge«).
