Meniscal Repair Outcomes: Isolated Versus Combined with Other Procedures

Abstract

The meniscus plays an important function in knee load bearing, shock absorption, joint lubrication, and joint stability. In light of the important functions of the meniscus, a number of studies have shown that a lack of a functional meniscus may accelerate progression to osteoarthritis. As such, every reasonable effort is made to preserve the meniscus by repairing it, when indications are appropriate.
