Summary
In three years of operation with the weather conditions of the Almería “Plataforma Solar”, the SSPS-DCS plant has provided valuable performance data and experience. Investigations of operation requirements and experiments with two different technologies, a solar system and a steam power system, could be done.
This paper presents the major operation results from the evaluation of plant performance data over the three operational periods. The first was influenced by plant and subsystem acceptance tests, including a period of functional adjustment as well as operational mode training, and permitted the second year to start with the operational objective of maximization of electrical production. The third year was then devoted to specific test and evaluation programs dealing with the behavior of new components such as collectors and storage.
