Plant nitrogen metabolism has been reviewed by DURZAN and STEWARD (1983) and with emphasis on ammonium assimilation and amino acid metabolism by MIFLIN and LEA (1982), LEA et al. (1982), WALLSGROVE et al. (1983a).
