Zusammenfassung
Schweißbildung ist eine physiologisch notwendige Funktion der Haut. Schwitzen an sich, sei es in den Achselhöhlen, an Handtellern oder Fußsohlen, ist ein überwiegend emotional gesteuertes Phänomen und daher in gewissem Ausmaß als physiologisch anzusehen. Vermehrte Schweißbildung und deren Folgeerscheinungen, insbesondere die Haut mazerierendes und geruchsintensives Schwitzen können hingegen zu gesellschaftlicher Isolierung führen und haben somit für den Betroffenen und seine Umwelt einen psychosozialen Stellenwert und belästigenden Krankheitswert. Insbesondere in den Achselhöhlen finden sich eine Vielzahl von geruchsproduzierenden Komponenten. Sekrete der ekkrinen und apokrinen Schweißdrüsen sowie teils auch der Talgdrüsen bilden das Substrat für eine Reihe von Mikro organismen.
