Zusammenfassung
Die PD stellt heute einerseits ein Konkurrenzverfahren zur Hämodialyse (HD) dar, andererseits wird sie auch als „Einstiegsverfahren“ bei noch relativ guter Nierenrestfunktion propagiert. Ihr Anteil an den Nierenersatzverfahren weist weltweit große regionale Unterschiede auf. Ihr Anteil ging in den USA von 18% in 1994 auf ca. 8% in 2005 zurück (United States Renal Data System, USRDS 2005). In Deutschland ist der Anteil der PD-Patienten seit Jahren unterdurchschnittlich gering, mit ebenfalls rückläufiger Tendenz (1996 ca. 7,3%, 2005 ca. 4,9%; Quelle: Quasi-Niere Bericht 2005).
