Palmprint recognition is one of the biometric technologies that uses unique discriminative features of palmprint to automatically recognize a person’s identity.

Background

Biometrics is the technology of identifying a person by his/her physiological characteristics, such as the iris, palmprint, fingerprint, and face, or using some aspect of his/her behavior, such as voice, signature, and gesture. Compared with traditional token-based or knowledge-based personal identifications that have the limitations of being easily stolen or forgotten, biometrics is regarded as a highly reliable and effective means to automatically recognize a person’s identity.
