Abstract
Liquid crystal display (LCD) technology is the preeminent display technology in the world today, having eclipsed the cathode ray tube (CRT) at the turn of the century. This short piece offers a personal perspective on the reasons behind the commercial dominance of the LCD, with particular focus on high definition displays.
